Museum Collections

First opened in 1906, the Wandsworth Museum has experienced over a century of growth and transformation. These changes, both in locality and collections are reflective of the landscape and society which the museum represents. It was originally established to inform local residents about their area’s progress at the turn of the century. Despite this, the collection portrayed an eccentric array of objects from around the world. It was not until the third museum opened in 1986 that the exhibition clearly focused on portraying the history of Wandsworth and the stories of its people.
