Getting to Wandsworth Museum
Wandsworth Museum is situated in central Wandsworth, South London, on the corner of the A3 West Hill and Santos Road. It’s five minutes’ walk from Wandsworth’s Southside Shopping Centre and is next to St Thomas a Becket Roman Catholic Church and diagonally opposite Wandsworth Fire Station.

Underground and Trains
The Museum is easily accessible from several stations in Travelcard Zones 2 or 3:
East Putney Underground Station (District Line) – 10 mins’ walk: Turn right out of the station, walk under the bridge and cross at the pelican crossing. Continue walking in the same direction (east) along Upper Richmond Road. When Upper Richmond Road merges with West Hill, continue in the same direction for two minutes. Alternatively, take the 37 or 337 bus towards Wandsworth, from East Putney Station stop, and get off at the third stop, Wandsworth Museum.
Wandsworth Town Rail Station – 10 mins’ walk. Turn right out of the station and walk along Old York Road to the main crossroads. Continue in the same direction along Armoury Way until it curves left, becoming Putney Bridge Road, and then joins West Hill at the T-junction. The museum is just up West Hill on the right-hand (north) side of the road.
Putney Rail Station – 15 mins’ walk. Turn left out of the station and immediately left at the main crossroads, onto Upper Richmond Road. Continue, passing East Putney Underground station, until Upper Richmond Road merges with West Hill. Proceed in the same direction for two minutes. Alternatively, take the 37 or 337 bus towards Wandsworth, from Putney Station stop on Upper Richmond Road, and get off at the fourth stop, Wandsworth Museum.
Clapham Junction Rail Station – 10 mins by bus. Take the 37, 170 or 337 bus towards Wandsworth, from Clapham Junction stop on St John’s Hill. Get off at the eighth stop, Wandsworth Museum. Alternatively, it’s a 30 minute walk in a straight line, with two hills to go up and one to go down - exit the station via Brighton Yard or St John’s Hill, turn right and continue along the right-hand side of St John’s Hill, which becomes East Hill, which then becomes Wandsworth High Street and finally West Hill.
Southfields Underground Station (District Line) – 20 mins’ walk. Turn left out of the station and immediately left at the crossroads, onto Wimbledon Park Road. At the end of Wimbledon Park Road, turn left onto Merton Road, and at the end of Merton Road turn left onto West Hill. The Museum is just up West Hill on the right-hand side.
Earlsfield Rail Station – 30 mins’ walk or 15 mins by bus. Turn right out of the station and walk along Garratt Lane for 20 minutes. Turn left at the crossroads with Wandsworth High Street and continue along Wandsworth High Street, which becomes West Hill after five minutes’ walk. The Museum is just up West Hill on the right. Alternatively, take the 270 bus towards Wandsworth from Earlsfield Station stop. Get off at the sixth stop, Wandsworth Police Station. Walk up West Hill for three minutes after alighting the bus and you will see the Museum on the right.
Tooting Broadway Underground Station (Northern Line) – 25 mins by bus. Take the 270 bus towards Wandsworth from Garratt Lane/Tooting Broadway stop. Get off at the 14th stop, Wandsworth Police Station. Walk up West Hill for three minutes after alighting the bus and you will see the Museum on the right.
Imperial Wharf Rail Station – 40 mins’ walk, partly via Thames Path. On exiting the station, proceed along Harbour Avenue to the Thames Path. Turn right at the riverside and continue along the Thames Path to Sainsbury’s. Walk through Sainsbury’s car park to Townmead Road and turn left. Turn left onto Wandsworth Bridge at the crossroads at the end of Townmead Road. Cross to the right-hand side of Wandsworth Bridge and continue around the right-hand side of the roundabout at the end of the bridge, crossing Swandon Way and turning right onto Swandon Way. Turn first left onto Old York Road, walk under the railway bridge and follow the instructions above from Wandsworth Town station.
Hammersmith Underground Station (Piccadilly, District, Circle, Hammersmith & City Lines) – 25 mins by bus. Take the 485 bus towards Wandsworth from Hammersmith Bus Station. Get off at the 20th stop, Frogmore. Proceed in the same direction as the bus for three minutes, along Putney Bridge Road, until Putney Bridge Road ends at the T-junction with West Hill. Turn right. The museum is just up West Hill on the right-hand (north) side of the road.
Cars and Parking
Wandsworth Museum has no public parking available on site, but has disabled parking available by appointment in the staff car park – call 020 8870 6060 during weekdays to reserve. As a member of the Green Museums Scheme we encourage visitors to use public transport to visit the museum. Public parking is available in Wandsworth Town Centre at Southside Shopping Centre. This can be reached via Buckhold Road and Neville Gill Close.
